I’d like to wish everyone a very happy Thanksgiving! I’m sure everyone has had some ups and downs in 2018, especially those currently dealing with a thyroid or autoimmune thyroid condition. But most of us really do have a lot to be grateful for, including myself! I am grateful for having a wonderful wife and two amazing daughters! Even though I’ve dealt with some health challenges this year unrelated to Graves’ disease (to be revealed in a future blog post) I’m grateful that right now I’m currently feeling great! Of course I’m also grateful for the opportunity to share my knowledge and experience in helping you to optimize your health!
Please feel free to share what you’re grateful for in the comment sections below!

Hi Sharon,
Thank you for posting! Hypothyroidism can definitely cause the LDL to increase, along with the total cholesterol. Here is an article I wrote on this topic:

I am grateful for my family. I love them all very much. I am grateful for the home I live in with its every convenience, beauty and safety. We worked hard for it. I’m grateful to live in Canada, my home and now native land. I’m grateful to you for all the things you’ve talked me. Thank you. Happy Thanksgiving.

You have a lot of things to be grateful for Elisabeth! Canada is very nice, as I visited there earlier this year!

Thank you for your well-wishes to everyone. We dont celebrate Thanksgiving here in Australia, and I dont celebrate Christmas. Just cultural differences, but no less, exists the reason for being thankful for our collective good fortune, the good food on our tables, health and healing, and togetherness. We create all the goodness we need for a better world if we all give thanks for what we have, every moment of our days and hand that on. I know that I fall down many times in that respect, but one thing in life that I’ve learned is to get up and keep giving and receiving with love. To everyone who is reading this, I wish you all the best for every day of your lives. xo

Hi Jayn,
Thank you so much for posting Jayn! One of these days I need to visit Australia. I don’t really have a “bucket list”, but if I did, visiting Australia would be on it!

I was diagnosed with Graves Disease this last summer. My late Father-in-Law left some money for me so that I could see a naturopathic doctor. I have a very supportive husband and family. I traveled across the US to see my kids, and they bent over backward to create meals that were AIP friendly. I received just enough visits, and paid for just enough tests to get a good overall assessment of my health. My doctor helped me find an infection and imbalance in my GI that the MD would not have been able to find. I am able to take 1/6 the dose of Methimazol prescribed by my Endocrinologist (MD), I am gaining weight, and I am finally feeling like exercising is safe and fun. Thank you for asking!

Thank you for sharing Karmay! I’m glad that you have a very supportive husband and family, and that the doctor you worked with was able to find an underlying infection.

I am grateful for being alive. I was very ill and am feeling so much better mentally since getting help for my thyroid. I got so much help that I feel has actually accomplished a starting point for not being sick I feel and not in pain all the time. Thank you so much for the help and inspiration.
